Will It Poison?

Can Dogs Eat Strawberries?

Safe

✅ Generally safe for dogs

Yes — strawberries are safe for dogs in moderation. They're low-calorie, vitamin-rich, and most dogs love them.

Fresh strawberries are one of the best fruits to share: high in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants, with a soft texture that's easy on teeth. The only real cautions are sugar (keep portions modest, especially for diabetic or overweight dogs) and anything strawberry-flavored — syrups, canned berries, and desserts add sugar or xylitol. Cut large berries in half for small dogs.

How to serve it safely

Wash, hull, and slice. A few berries a day for a medium dog is plenty. Skip canned/syruped versions entirely.

If you're sharing food with your dog

Treats and table food should stay under about 10% of daily calories. These help keep sharing a habit that doesn't quietly become a weight problem.

A maze-bottom bowl stretches a 30-second inhale into several minutes, which helps with gulping, bloating and bored begging.
